D-MANNOSE
Is a simple sugar like the better-known glucose. Unlike glucose, D-mannose is absorbed but not metabolized by the human body, so it has a very low glycaemic index, and this makes it particularly useful for use in diabetic patients. D-mannose has been proposed as an alternative approach for managing Urinary Tract Infection (UTIs) since it can inhibit the bacterial adhesion to the urothelium. D-mannose can bind Type-1 fimbriae (Mannose-sensitive fimbriae) on the surface of pathogens (i.e: Escherichia Coli), forming a physical “coating”, which prevent their adhesion to the bladder and promote their elimination with the urine. Unlike antibiotics, D-Mannose does not induce the development of resistant bacteria, so it is useful for long-term treatments.
HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA
This officinal plant is rich in Proanthocyanidins (PACs) and Organic Acids, which give the Hibiscus dry extract interesting diuretic and antiseptic properties. PACs are potent antiadhesive compounds: they adhere to mannose-resistant fimbriae (P fimbriae) on the surface of pathogens preventing their adhesion to the bladder and promoting their elimination with the urine. Moreover, Hibiscus dry extract, thanks to its content in organic acids, lowers the pH of the bladder environment, preventing bacterial proliferation. Hibiscus sabdariffa is also effective against fungi such as Candida albicans.
BROMELAIN (5.000 GDU/g)
Is the most effective protein-digesting enzyme obtained from the stem of pineapple. A wide range of therapeutic benefits have been claimed for Bromelain; in particular Bromelain has been shown to control local inflammatory conditions, promote the reabsorption of edema and improve the absorption of some antibiotics.
LACTOBACILLUS PLANTARUM SGL07
Is a probiotic, in other words, it is a normal bacterial constituent of intestinal and urinary tract that provide a health benefit to the host when administered in sufficient amounts. Probiotics protect the host from pathogens through various activities, including production of antimicrobial compounds, inhibition of bacterial adhesion, nutrient metabolism assistance, and immune and digestive system regulation. Qualitative and/or quantitative imbalances of the intestinal and urinary microbiota can increase the susceptibility of urinary tract infections. In vitro studies have shown that, among probiotic species, Lactobacillus plantarum is particularly effective in inhibiting the adhesion of bacteria to the bladder, preventing the formation of bacterial biofilms, which are not easily eliminated with conventional antibiotic therapy. L. Plantarum survives the gastric acid environment and the most common antibiotics used in the treatment of urinary tract infections.

D-Mannose and Hibiscus S.: a unique and effective synergy
MECHANISM OF ACTION OF D-MANNOSE AND HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA
D-mannose can bind Type-1 fimbriae (Mannose-sensitive fimbriae) on the surface of pathogens (i.e: Escherichia Coli), forming a physical “coating”, which prevent their adhesion to the bladder and promote their elimination with the urine.
Hibiscus sabdariffa dry extract is particularly rich in Proanthocyanidins (PACs) PACs are potent antiadhesive compounds: they bind P-fimbriae (Mannose-resistant fimbriae) on the surface of pathogens.
In this way, D-mannose and Hibiscus work in synergy to hide all the binding sites of bacteria on the bladder wall.
HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA:
HAS AN EXTENSIVE ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY
E. Coli (bacterium) and Candida Albicans (yeast) are responsible for more than 95% of urinary tract infections.
REDUCES THE FREQUENCY OF RECURRENCES
Results of a clinical study carried out on 40 women with recurrent urinary tract infections (4 episodes a year).
LOWERS THE PH OF THE BLADDER ENVIRONMENT, PREVENTING BACTERIAL PROLIFERATION
Results of a clinical study carried out on patients with urinary tract infections.
