Il Selenio<\/strong> <\/span>svolge un ruolo fondamentale nei meccanismi antiossidanti di difesa della tiroide contro i danni indotti dai radicali liberi e nel metabolismo periferico degli ormoni tiroidei, catalizzando la conversione dell’ormone tiroideo inattivo (T4-Tiroxina), nella sua forma biologicamente attiva (T3-Triiodotironina)<\/p>\n

Quando l’apporto di Iodio<\/strong> <\/span>\u00e8 insufficiente, si assiste ad una diminuzione dei livelli sierici di ormoni tiroidei. La tiroide risponde a questa ipo-produzione aumentando la sintesi del TSH per stimolare la tiroide a produrre pi\u00f9 ormoni.<\/p>\n

L’eccesso di TSH si traduce in un’iperstimolazione della ghiandola tiroidea e quindi in una sovrapproduzione di radicali liberi e in un aumento del volume ghiandolare.<\/p>\n

Se tuttavia il Selenio<\/strong> <\/span>\u00e8 disponibile in quantit\u00e0 sufficienti, l’attivit\u00e0 degli enzimi selenio-dipendenti (Selenoproteine) \u00e8 tale da garantire la neutralizzazione dei radicali liberi prodotti in eccesso.<\/p>\n

In caso di deficienza combinata Iodio<\/strong><\/span>\/Selenio<\/strong> <\/span>l’eccesso di radicali liberi che si forma in sede tiroidea non viene compensato da un aumento dell’efficienza dei sistemi antiossidanti selenio-dipendenti, per cui i radicali in eccesso vanno ad attaccare le cellule tiroidee causandone la necrosi, con conseguente ingrossamento, fibrosi e ipofunzione ghiandolare.<\/p>\n

La deficienza combinata Iodio<\/strong><\/span>\/Selenio<\/strong> <\/span> causa profonde alterazioni anche a carico del metabolismo periferico degli ormoni tiroidei.<\/p>\n
